Crossed roller slewing bearings are similar to other slewing bearing types, but their unique cross raceway structure gives them higher load-bearing capacity and stability. When an external load acts on the slewing bearing, the rollers roll in the raceway and bear the axial load, radial load and overturning moment, thereby achieving rotational motion.

The internal structure consists of cylindrical rollers located in the V-shaped grooves of each ring. The direction of the rotation axis of the rollers is alternately arranged. Positioned in this way, the bearing can withstand a combination of radial, thrust and moment loads. Rotational torque is less than a single row of ball designs because each roller only transfers load in a single direction, and the larger contact area and geometry of the rollers compared to the balls provides higher stiffness and strength.

Rollers that are the same size as balls have greater load-carrying capacity. However, because not all rollers are oriented in one direction, its thrust and moment load capabilities are smaller than those of a single-row ball slewing bearing.
